Strawberry Pretzel Salad

If there’s one dessert that instantly feels like summer, it’s Strawberry Pretzel Salad. This old-fashioned favorite has stood the test of time for good reason — every bite is the perfect balance of salty, sweet, creamy, and tangy flavors layered together into one unforgettable dessert.

Made in three incredible layers, this classic recipe starts with a buttery baked pretzel crust that adds the perfect salty crunch. The middle layer is smooth and creamy with cream cheese and Cool Whip, creating a rich filling that balances the sweetness beautifully. Then comes the bright, fruity topping made with strawberry Jell-O and frozen strawberries that sets into a refreshing finish everyone loves.

It’s cool, creamy, crunchy, nostalgic, and always one of the first desserts to disappear at potlucks, cookouts, holidays, and summer gatherings.

The Ingredients: Crust

  • 7 oz Pretzels, crushed
  • 53 grams Sugar
  • 6 oz Butter, melted

The Ingredients: Cream Cheese Filling

  • 16 oz Cream Cheese, softened
  • 210 grams Sugar
  • 8 oz container Cool Whip

The Ingredients: Jello Topping

  • 6 oz package Strawberry Jello
  • 16 oz Boiling Water
  • 16 oz Frozen Strawberries with sugar

Instructions

  • 1. Crush pretzels & mix with the melted butter & sugar, then press into the bottom of a 9x13 pan to form the crust. *Line the pan with a foil sling for serving convenience.
  • 2. Bake at 350° for 10 minutes and let cool completely.
  • 3. Add cream cheese and sugar to a bowl and whip until fully incorporated, then fold in the Cool Whip.
  • 4. Spread the cream cheese mixture evenly over the crust, sealing to the edge of the pan, then place in the fridge for 30 minutes to set up.
  • 5. To make the Jello layer boil 2 cups of water and add to a bowl with the Jello mix and stir until dissolved, then add the frozen strawberries and stir until thawed.
  • 6. Pour the Jello mixture on top of the cream cheese mixture and refrigerate until Jello is set. At least 1 hour, but longer if possible.
  • 7. Slice and serve up!
