Classic Deviled Eggs… But Make ’Em Zippy

featuring Duke’s, Durkee’s, Grillo’s & a Birdy & Pretzels twist

Deviled eggs are one of those irresistible, crowd-pleasing classics — creamy, nostalgic, and universally loved. But here at Birdy & Pretzels, we can’t help ourselves: we love taking a familiar favorite and giving it a little spark. A little flair. A little zippy magic.

These deviled eggs honor tradition… but the flavor?
That’s where the fun begins.

What makes them “zippy”?

The secret is in the ingredients — a combination of creamy, tangy, bright, and bold flavors that come together effortlessly.

Our zippy mix includes:

  • Duke’s mayo for rich, velvety creaminess

  • Durkee’s Famous Sauce for that unmistakable tangy bite

  • Grillo’s pickles + a splash of their brine for clean, crunchy acidity

  • Minced onion for a subtle savory lift

  • Birdy & Pretzels SPG for depth, balance, and seasoning perfection

  • Paprika for warmth and color

Together, they create a deviled egg filling that’s smooth, tangy, and just spicy enough — familiar but way more fun.

The Garnish — Go Simple or Go Wild

You can top these beauties with whatever your heart desires, but we went with:

  • A pickle topper (because Grillo’s forever)

  • A sprinkle of fresh chives

  • A final shake of paprika for that iconic look

It’s a trio that adds crunch, color, and fresh herb flavor — the perfect finish.

The Ingredients:

  • 12 Hardboiled Eggs
  • 6 oz. Mayo
  • 1.5 oz. Durkee Famous Sauce
  • 1/8th tsp. Paprika
  • 3 grams B&P SPG Seasoning
  • 1.5 oz. Pickles, Diced
  • 1 oz. Sweet Onion, Diced
  • 1.5 oz. Chives

Instructions

  • 1. Slice peeled eggs in half, lengthwise. Remove the yellow yolks and place in a bowl.
  • 2. Add mayo, Durkee sauce, paprika, b&p spg, pickles and onions to the egg yolks.
  • 3. Mix by hand or with a hand mixer until smooth and Season to taste. If mixture is too dry add a little more mayo or some pickle juice or both!
  • 4. Transfer egg yolk mixture to a piping bag or Ziploc bag and fill egg whites. A cookie scoop can also be used or a spoon.
  • 5. Top eggs with chives, diced pickles and paprika.
